Mixed media artist, Shoichi Sakurai' s artwork usually centers around abandoned or discarded materials, allowing unique aspects of the object to be celebrated. With this piece, one in a series fabricated in 2012, the artist took a different direction, using art clay and the palm of his hand, to create an original calligraphy of the Kanji character "ICHI" (One.)
